Police Disciplinary Campaign

Here at Blue Light 4 Change, we have experienced some of the most horrendous stories of victimisation, abuse of power and poor decision making in the British Police Service.

Once described as a “Police Family”, it is sadly no longer the case.  In this section of our site, you can watch interviews with former and current serving officers (identities fully protected), who have been victims of what are called Professional Standards Departments.  Staffed by Police Officers and civilians, these units exist to “Police The Police”.

Blue Light 4 Change - Police (3)

They are supposed to uphold the strict standards of the Police, root out corrupt officers from the service and investigate wrong-doing.  However, we have uncovered story upon story of badly conducted investigations into officers, abuse of Policing regulations, the rules THE POLICE THEMSELVES lay down and the sacking of officers when there is simply no need for this most punitive measure.

It now begs the sad question, “SHOULD THE POLICE BE ABLE TO INVESTIGATE THEIR OWN?”

The recent legal ruling in R V Di Maria which removed the Polices’ power to sack officers who they deemed hadn’t cleared their strict “vetting” standards is we say, the courts standing up for officers who are being un-fairly victimised by the very service that should be thankful for the daily sacrifice they make for this nation.

All too often, it is the officer fighting against “the big machine” with all the legal protection “the Police” can muster – when the officer targeted, has none of that privilege unless they get themselves and more importantly, their families, into massive debt.

If YOU have experienced and un-earthed poor practices by the Police and you can evidence this, we want to hear from you.

Just CLICK HERE to send us your story, leave your contact details and we will get back to you.

If you are an ex-serving member of any other public service body and have experience of the same abuse of power, please reach out and tell your story.  TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER.

Campaign for Injury Medal Recognition: Emergency Services UK

Tom Curry is a former Sussex Police Officer and he received a life-changing injury on duty after 20+ years of service and was medically retired from the service.

He is an author, campaigner and a humanitarian.

Tom is currently leading a National Campaign to seek medal recognition for severely injured Emergency Service personnel.

He is the Administrator of 4 Facebook groups, one for each Emergency Service and another for all 3 combined. The purpose of these is to promote his campaign and to spread the word. Membership of these groups so far is over 5 thousand and is mainly made up of maimed former Emergency workers.

Although Tom describes the lack of medal recognition and overlooking of the forgotten injured as a shameful National scandal, he says that the biggest disgrace is how the services treat their very own injured once they are no longer of any use due to injury.

Many of the severely maimed have to vigorously fight their respective pension authorities, whilst still extremely ill,  to receive their rightful ‘injury on duty’ pension awards. Only too frequently whilst not being properly supported by their unions, isolated and vulnerable, many with mental issues are beaten into submission by the financially powerful, all-consuming budget-saving and lacking in compassion authorities.

Sadly, far too many of those affected and the battle taking a toll mentally, they simply abandon their costly claims, causing a severe impact on their future and income, BUT to the delight of pension departments.

Tom has firsthand information to corroborate his claims coming directly from those affected among his Facebook members.

Tom’s last 2 books give a harrowing account of the scale of the problem.  He says he truly hopes that one day the National shame will be revealed and when it does he says he believes it will be on a par with the Post Office scandal.
